Elena Uryadova is a Litchfield county-based lifestyle photographer specializing in authentically capturing life’s unscripted moments.

From St. Petersburg, Russia, Elena is a born artist with a keen eye for aesthetics. After years as both director and owner in the interior design field, Elena took an interest in photography.

Inspired by old-fashioned film photographers, Elena took a year-long street photography course and subsequently immersed herself in the art with hours of personal research and practice. Her natural, intimate, dramatic style reflects her personal desire to capture life’s small moments, from poignant to joyous. “Life goes by very, very fast and in the day-to-day, one can forget to stop and look around,” she says. “But when you have pictures, you can memorize a precious moment, a feeling...and smile.” Elena’s organic sense for subtle emotion is informed by not only her personal philosophy but also a master’s degree in psychology from St. Petersburg State University, the city’s largest and oldest institution of its caliber.

Elena believes that every shot deserves to be edited personally. She works quickly after each shoot to infuse the “feeling” of the event into her individualized editing. Moreover, the colors and shades chosen are specific to each shoot and she often gravitates towards tones of black and white for its emotive power. With a style all her own, Elena’s work communicates the true beauty of “life as it is” in all its imperfect splendor.
